What are Recurring Tasks and how do they work?
Recurring tasks are tasks that need to be done repeatedly on a regular schedule — things like monthly expenses, weekly reviews, daily check-ins, or any routine activity that comes around again and again.
When you mark a recurring task as complete, Justtasks does two things simultaneously. First, it completes the current task and records it in your completed tasks, so your productivity stats stay accurate. Second, it automatically creates the next instance of the task, dated for when it is next due based on the frequency you have set.
The new task is automatically added to both your Master List and your Today List, but with an important twist — the Today List and your Dashboard focus strip filter out tasks with a future date. This means the new task sits quietly in the background until the day it is actually due. When that date arrives, it will appear on your Today List and Dashboard automatically, without you having to do anything.
For example, if you complete your Monthly Expenses task on the 1st of May, a new Monthly Expenses task is immediately created and dated for the 1st of June. You will not see it cluttering your Today List in the meantime, but on the 1st of June it will appear right where you need it.
To make a task recurring, open the task and tick the Recurring option, then select the frequency — daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, or yearly. The recurring schedule is based on the task date you have set, so make sure the task date reflects when it is next due before you save it.
